# The best AI social media tools in 2026, honestly compared > Nine AI social media management tools compared on published pricing, platforms, AI writing & MCP support. - Published: 2026-07-22 - Last updated: 2026-07-22 - Author: DunSocial - Topics: comparison, ai --- There is no single best AI social media tool. Any list that names one without asking what you need is guessing. Here are nine, compared on facts you can check. DunSocial publishes this & is one of the nine. So we held our own entry to the same fields as everyone else's, including the ones where we look bad. ## The short version - **Best if you want the AI to remember your brand:** DunSocial, which is what we built it for. - **Cheapest way to start:** Buffer & Publer both have permanent free tiers. Buffer's paid entry is $5 per channel per month; Publer's is $5 per social account per month. - **Best for visual brands:** Later, for Instagram, TikTok & Pinterest planning. - **Best for writing:** Typefully, if X & LinkedIn threads are the whole job. - **Best if you must self-host:** Postiz, which is open source. - **Best analytics & customer care:** Sprout Social, by a wide margin. - **Best at enterprise scale:** Sprinklr, though it publishes no pricing & is a different category of purchase. ## What actually separates these tools **AI writing is table stakes.** All nine generate copy, so "AI-powered" tells you nothing. The useful question is whether it remembers your brand between sessions, or starts every generation from a blank prompt. You won't see that on a feature grid. You'll see it after a week. **MCP isn't a differentiator either.** This one surprised us, & it makes our old marketing look silly. As of 22 July 2026, six tools here ship their own MCP server: Buffer, Hootsuite, Typefully, Postiz, Sprout Social & us. Depth varies. Postiz documents 9 MCP tools; DunSocial documents 39. Buffer puts its API on every plan including Free; Publer gates its REST API to Business & ships no MCP server. Sprinklr documents an MCP *client*, so its own agents can consume other people's servers. Opposite direction. Don't count it. **& the thing that never changes:** what the price meters on matters more than the price. A $5 per-channel plan & a $20 flat plan cross over at four channels. A $79 per-seat plan crosses over immediately. Read the unit, not the headline. ## The nine tools ### DunSocial ![DunSocial product UI](/images/blog/best-ai-social-media-tools/dunsocial.webp) Ours. $20 per month flat, or $192 per year, all eight platforms, unlimited scheduled posts. One seat included, extra seats $8 per month. 14-day trial, no permanent free tier. Eight networks: X including threads of up to 25 posts, LinkedIn profiles & Company Pages, Instagram feed, carousels & Reels, Threads, Bluesky, Reddit with subreddit & flair, Pinterest, & YouTube Shorts. It's built around persistent brand memory. Facts, tone, phrasings & things you never want said get stored as searchable entries & pulled into every draft, so you explain your positioning once. The hosted MCP server exposes 39 tools across posts, drafts, memory, media & workspaces, on the base plan. **Buy it if** you want the AI to hold real context about your brand, & you'd rather pay a flat price than one that grows per channel, account or seat. **Skip it if** you need any of: image or video generation, a social inbox, analytics beyond a posting-time heatmap, TikTok or Facebook, self-hosting, or a permanent free tier. Those are real gaps, not roadmap items we're being coy about. ### Buffer ![Buffer product UI](/images/blog/best-ai-social-media-tools/buffer.webp) $5 per channel per month on Essentials, plus a real free tier: 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel, one user. Eleven networks including TikTok, Facebook, Google Business Profile & Mastodon. Official MCP server with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Raycast & Perplexity connectors, & the API is on every plan including Free. **Buy it if** you need one or two channels & the easiest start in the category. **Skip it if** you publish to many networks, where per-channel pricing piles up, or you need Reddit. AI in every plan, plus first-party MCP servers with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini & Copilot connectors. Entry is $99 per seat per month on annual billing for Standard. **Buy it if** you need listening & a unified inbox, with a team big enough for per-seat pricing. **Skip it if** you only need to publish. You'd pay for a lot of platform you never open. Source: [hootsuite.com/plans](https://www.hootsuite.com/plans), retrieved 22 July 2026. The $99, $199 & $399 figures come from Hootsuite's pricing FAQ; the pricing cards didn't render amounts when we read the page, so confirm before buying. ### Later ![Later product UI](/images/blog/best-ai-social-media-tools/later.webp) $18.75 per month on annual Starter, covering one "social set" of 8 profiles & one user. Best visual planning here, a good media library, link-in-bio, & a real influencer marketing business attached. AI captions are credit-metered. No MCP server. **Buy it if** Instagram, TikTok & Pinterest are your main channels. **Skip it if** you publish mostly text, need X or Reddit, or want to drive it from an AI agent. The platform list came from Later's own blog; their help-centre matrix returned an error. ### Typefully ![Typefully product UI](/images/blog/best-ai-social-media-tools/typefully.webp) $12.50 per month on Starter, with a free tier for writing. The best pure writing & thread-composing experience here, focused on X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon & Instagram. Official MCP server working with Claude, ChatGPT & Cursor. **Buy it if** you're a founder, writer or personal brand living on X & LinkedIn. The editor is better than ours. **Skip it if** you need Reddit, Pinterest or YouTube, or you manage several client brands. Source: [typefully.com/ai-agents](https://typefully.com/ai-agents), retrieved 22 July 2026. Their pricing page renders client-side & we couldn't read it; the $12.50 comes from Typefully's own comparison posts, so treat it as indicative. ### Postiz ![Postiz product UI](/images/blog/best-ai-social-media-tools/postiz.webp) $29 per month for 5 channels on hosted Standard, or free if you self-host, since it's fully open source. Widest coverage here at thirteen-plus networks including Discord, Telegram & Mastodon, plus AI image & video generation & an MCP server with 9 tools. **Buy it if** you want to own the stack or need data on your own infrastructure. Nothing else here can be self-hosted. **Skip it if** you'd rather not run & update a service yourself, or 5 channels for $29 feels tight. Source: [postiz.com/pricing](https://postiz.com/pricing), [docs.postiz.com/mcp](https://docs.postiz.com/mcp/introduction), retrieved 22 July 2026. ### Publer ![Publer product UI](/images/blog/best-ai-social-media-tools/publer.webp) The most granular pricing here: $5 per social account per month on Professional, plus $4 per extra account & $2 per extra member, with a free forever tier of 3 accounts. Very broad coverage including WordPress, Telegram, Google Business Profile & Mastodon. AI starts at Business, the REST API is Business-only, no MCP server. **Buy it if** budget is the constraint & you post to unusual networks. **Skip it if** AI writing is why you're buying, since it sits on a higher tier. Source: [Publer pricing help article](https://publer.com/help/en/article/what-are-publers-plans-and-pricing-15h4yqh/), retrieved 22 July 2026. Their /pricing & /plans URLs returned redirect loops. ### Sprout Social ![Sprout Social product UI](/images/blog/best-ai-social-media-tools/sproutsocial.webp) $79 per seat per month on annual billing for Essentials, $99 monthly, 30-day trial. The strongest analytics, sentiment & reporting here, plus a polished smart inbox & enterprise-grade care workflows. Remote MCP server, starting with a ChatGPT connector. **Buy it if** you need reporting a leadership team will accept, or you run customer care through social. **Skip it if** you're a small team publishing content. You'd pay for far more than you'd use. Source: [sproutsocial.com/pricing](https://sproutsocial.com/pricing/), retrieved 22 July 2026. ### Sprinklr ![Sprinklr product UI](/images/blog/best-ai-social-media-tools/sprinklr.webp) No published pricing; sales-led, demo only. Unified enterprise platform across social, listening, care, ads & marketing, with the governance large regulated organisations need. **Buy it if** you're consolidating a contact centre & social onto one vendor. **Skip it if** you're anyone else. It isn't really in the same market as this list. Source: [sprinklr.com](https://www.sprinklr.com/products/social-media-management/advanced/), retrieved 22 July 2026. A press release mentions a self-serve plan at $199 per user per month, but it predates 2026 & we couldn't corroborate it, so we won't state it as fact. ## How to choose Stop at the first line that describes a hard requirement. 1. **Must self-host?** Postiz. Nothing else here can. 2. **Need TikTok or Facebook?** Buffer, Hootsuite, Later, Postiz, Publer or Sprout Social. Not DunSocial, not Typefully. 3. **Need a social inbox or listening?** Hootsuite, Sprout Social or Sprinklr. 4. **Need reporting for stakeholders?** Sprout Social. 5. **Budget is zero?** Buffer or Publer free tiers. 6. **Only X & LinkedIn, & writing quality is everything?** Typefully. 7. **Instagram-first visual brand?** Later. 8. **Want the AI to remember your brand across sessions?** DunSocial. If none of those settled it, several will work. Trial two. Most offer 7 to 30 days. ## How this list was built Every price, plan name, platform list & feature claim came off a vendor-owned page, read on 22 July 2026, linked inline. Anything we couldn't verify is left out or flagged. There's a selfish reason for admitting where we lose, as well as an honest one. A comparison page that can't name one thing a competitor does better is just an ad. Pricing changes often. Check before you buy. --- ## About this document This is the Markdown representation of https://www.dunsocial.com/blog/best-ai-social-media-tools.
