## Four surfaces, one product

DunSocial is equally good at all four surfaces. They are the same product, not a ladder from "serious" to "simple."

The web app is a first-class, goated experience. Calendar, drafts, preview, memory, voice, and confirm. This is where humans live. It is not a fallback for people who do not use agents.

## What "can publish" means here

An MCP server is a list of tools an assistant can call. We only include a first-party server if the vendor documents that an assistant can create a draft, schedule a post, or publish through that vendor's own product.

Having an MCP server is not a differentiator. Buffer, Hootsuite, Typefully, Postiz, Sprout Social, and DunSocial all ship one. What still differs is publish versus read, plan, auth, tool depth, and whether a human confirms before live.

## DunSocial

Hosted MCP at `https://api.dunsocial.com/api/mcp`. Add the URL in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Grok, or another MCP client, approve OAuth in the browser, pick a workspace, and grant only the scopes the assistant needs. No token to copy.

The 43 tools cover posts (list, get, schedule, publish now, threads, reschedule, cancel, delete), drafts, memory, media, workspaces, and personalization. Posts created over MCP are tagged with an MCP source in the app. They appear on the same calendar a human opens in the browser.

That calendar is not a viewer for agent output. You write there. You preview there. You keep voice and memory there. You confirm there. An assistant that drafts a thread and a person who opens the week view are using one product.

## Landscape

These vendors ship MCP. The table above is the comparison. The notes below are what their own pages said on 20 August 2026.

### Buffer

MCP is on every plan, including Free. Buffer lists Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Raycast, Perplexity, Notion, Zapier, n8n, Manus, and Antigravity. Claude uses `https://mcp.buffer.com/mcp` and a Buffer sign-in. The developer guide uses an API key and a Bearer header. Both are first-party.

Buffer does not publish a tool count. Documented work is drafting, scheduling, managing the queue, saving ideas, and checking channels. Agent output lands in the Buffer queue. Buffer's FAQ says you remain the last step.

Pricing on 20 August 2026. Free is $0, 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel. Essentials starts at $6 per channel per month ($5 per month yearly for one channel). The pricing page lists Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, Bluesky, and Mastodon. Reddit is not on that list.

### Hootsuite

Hootsuite ships several first-party MCP servers. Perch is publishing. Nest is inbox. Lumen is listening. Parliament is employee advocacy. ChatGPT and Claude get pre-built connectors. You sign in with your Hootsuite workspace and need access to that product.

Perch sample prompts include scheduling a LinkedIn post and publishing to LinkedIn now. The same page says human review remains part of approval. Treat Perch as capable of immediate publish if you ask.

No tool count is published. We did not re-read hootsuite.com/plans today, so we are not stating a dollar figure.

### Typefully

The help article lists Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon. The AI agents page also lists Instagram. Auth is a Typefully API key, not OAuth. If your client only speaks OAuth for remote MCP, Typefully tells you to use its Agent Skill or its API instead.

No tool count is published. Documented work includes drafts, scheduling, the queue, media, tags, and connected accounts. Typefully's API has a planned state that sits on the calendar but does not auto-publish until confirmed. Immediate publish is also documented.

### Postiz

Eleven documented MCP tools. Four generate images or video. The rest list accounts, read platform schemas, schedule or publish, list posts, and update unpublished settings. Auth is an API key in the URL or a Bearer token. Self-hosted instances swap the host.

Immediate publish is a first-class option. If you want a human gate, you ask the agent to draft and you review it. MCP cannot read or reply to comments today.

Hosted Standard is $29 per month for 5 channels. Self-hosting is free. The pricing page lists X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, Reddit, Discord, Bluesky, Mastodon, and more.

### Sprout Social, Later, Publer

Sprout has a first-party remote MCP server at https://mcp.sproutsocial.com/mcp. On the page we read, it is not a publishing server. The ChatGPT setup article limits the connection to TikTok published insights and post performance. Auth is OAuth. Official support is ChatGPT only. Community GitHub wrappers are not Sprout.

Later still has no first-party MCP page on later.com that we could find on 20 August 2026.

Publer shipped a first-party MCP in beta. Their help article, updated 14 August 2026, limits it to top ambassadors and Enterprise customers. Example prompts include a draft and a scheduled LinkedIn post. It is not on the plans most people buy.
