## What "can publish" means here

An MCP server is a list of tools an assistant can call. This page only marks **Publishes via MCP = Yes** when the vendor documents that an assistant can create a draft, schedule a post, or publish through that vendor's own product.

That bar excludes:

- Insights-only or analytics-only MCP (read post performance, not create posts)
- Third-party community wrappers that call a vendor API without being the vendor's official server
- Marketing pages that say "AI" without documenting MCP tools that write to the calendar

### Does Hootsuite have an MCP server?

Yes. Hootsuite ships four first-party MCP servers, & **Perch** (`https://mcp.hootsuite.com/perch`) is the one that drafts, schedules & publishes posts. **Nest** is social inbox, **Lumen** is insights & listening, & **Parliament** is employee advocacy.

All four work with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini & Microsoft Copilot. You sign in with your Hootsuite workspace, & you need access to the matching product. Hootsuite says human review "remains an important part of the content approval process." Tool count is not published.

So yes, you can draft & schedule social posts from ChatGPT or Claude using Hootsuite, through the Perch connector.

### Does Publer have an MCP?

Yes. Publer ships a first-party MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor & other MCP clients. Setup is Settings → AI & Automations → MCP: create an API key with Workspaces & Accounts scopes (Posts, Media & Analytics optional), then paste the generated MCP URL into your client.

Example prompts cover listing accounts, reviewing & creating drafts, & scheduling a LinkedIn Page post. The help article (updated 28 September 2026) says MCP is "now available on the Business and Enterprise plans," & also that it is currently available "with the Top Ambassadors on the Enterprise plan." Tool count & confirm-before-publish are not documented.

### Does Buffer have an MCP?

Yes. Buffer's MCP is on every plan, including Free. Buffer lists Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Raycast, Perplexity, Notion, Zapier, n8n, Manus & Antigravity as clients. ### Does Later have an MCP?

No first-party one that we could find. As of 2026-09-29, later.com, Later's help center & its partners page do not mention an MCP server or a Claude or ChatGPT connector. Later Influence has a Reporting API for campaign metrics, which is not a social publishing MCP. Third-party wrappers that list "MCP for Later" are not Later.

### Does Typefully have an MCP?

Yes. Endpoint: `https://mcp.typefully.com/mcp`. Auth is **OAuth** for chat clients (Typefully says MCP "doesn't need an API key"), & headless clients can send a Bearer API key.

Documented work: create, edit, schedule & manage drafts across X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky & Mastodon, plus queue, published posts, media, tags & accounts. Clients include Claude (Pro or Max), ChatGPT (Plus or Pro), Cursor, Claude Code & Notion. Tool count not published.

### Does Sprout Social have an MCP?

Yes, but not for publishing. Sprout's first-party remote MCP at `https://mcp.sproutsocial.com/mcp` uses OAuth & is set up as a ChatGPT connector in Developer Mode. Sprout limits it to **TikTok published insights & post performance**, & says the integration is built & supported for ChatGPT only. Community wrappers are not Sprout.

## How to choose

When you already live in an MCP client:

1. **Can it publish?** Insights-only MCP fails the job.
2. **Auth.** Prefer browser OAuth. API keys in URLs leak more easily into configs.
3. **Confirm before publish.** DunSocial & Buffer put a human review step before posts go live. Postiz & Buffer's API also document immediate publish modes.
4. **Tool depth.** DunSocial documents 53. Postiz documents 13. Most others leave the count unpublished.
5. **One calendar.** Prefer a server that writes into the same drafts you open in the web app.
