# Can Claude post to X? X's official MCP server vs a scheduler

Claude can post to X, but not through X's own MCP server. X launched that server on June 30, 2026, & it is built for reading, searching & drafting Articles. To publish or schedule a regular post from a chat, you connect a scheduler's MCP server, like DunSocial's.

Here is what X's server covers, what it leaves out, & how the agent flow works with a scheduler.

## What X's official MCP server does

X hosts an MCP server at `api.x.com/mcp`. According to [X's developer docs](https://github.com/xdevplatform/docs/blob/main/tools/mcp.mdx), an AI tool connected to it can fetch posts, run full-archive search, look up users, manage bookmarks, read news & trends, & create & publish Articles.

You reach it through X's `xurl mcp` bridge, & user-context access needs your own X developer app with OAuth 2.0.

That makes it a research & drafting surface. It is useful when you want Claude to find posts or summarize a topic.

## Why it does not schedule your posts

[TechCrunch reported at launch](https://techcrunch.com/2026/06/30/x-now-offers-an-mcp-server-to-make-its-platform-easier-for-ai-tools-to-use/) that X said the tool is not compatible with its Write API endpoints, so it cannot be used to post autonomously. X's docs list bookmarks & Articles as the writes, & do not list scheduling a post for a later time.

If your goal is "write this thread & publish it Friday at 9am", you need something that holds the post & publishes it at the right moment.

The cost side is separate. TechCrunch also reported X's API pricing of $0.015 per post & $0.20 per post that contains a link, so check X's current pricing before you build your own posting flow.

## How Claude schedules to X with DunSocial MCP
