# How many YouTube Shorts can you schedule per day? > YouTube publishes no fixed daily Shorts number. It caps uploads per channel in 24 hours, & the API has its own quota. Here is how to plan a safe queue. - Published: 2026-10-18 - Last updated: 2026-10-18 - Author: Sanju (Founder & CEO @ DunSocial) - Topics: shorts, scheduler --- YouTube does not publish a fixed number of Shorts you can post per day. It limits how many videos a channel can upload in a 24-hour period, & the ceiling depends on your country & channel history. A scheduler uploads through the same YouTube API, so it draws on the same limit. The safe plan is a queue of one to a few Shorts a day, spread out, not a pile on one afternoon. ## What YouTube says about the daily limit YouTube's [common uploading errors page](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/10383400?hl=en) describes the "Daily upload limit reached" message. YouTube limits how many videos a channel can upload in a 24-hour period across desktop, mobile, & the YouTube API. It adds that limits vary by country or region & by channel history, & that copyright & Community Guidelines strikes affect how much you can upload. Two things follow. There is no official number to copy, & Shorts do not get a separate counter. A Short uploaded from a scheduler uses the same allowance as one uploaded from your phone. ## The API has its own quota too Scheduling tools upload through the YouTube Data API. Google's [videos.insert reference](https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/docs/videos/insert) says an upload has a quota impact of 100 calls per day, & a call costs 1 unit in a separate Video Uploads quota bucket. That quota belongs to the app's Google Cloud project, not to your channel. Older guides still say an upload costs 1,600 units & caps an app at about six a day. Check the date on any guide that quotes those figures, because the current reference describes the separate upload bucket instead. ## When your scheduled Short counts A scheduled Short does not use your upload allowance when you add it to the calendar. In DunSocial, the video is uploaded to YouTube at the scheduled time & goes out as a public video. That means the 24-hour window is measured around publish time. If you queue ten Shorts for the same hour, they all try to upload together, & the later ones can hit the limit. ## How to plan a queue that does not hit the wall - **Spread the slots.** Give each Short its own day or its own time block instead of stacking them. - **Count every upload path.** Shorts you post by hand from the app or Studio count too. - **Check the calendar after each batch.** A failed publish shows on the calendar, & you can reschedule it for the next day. - **Watch for strikes.** If uploads fail unexpectedly, check YouTube Studio for a strike before you blame the tool. If you also post the same clip elsewhere, see [how to post one video to Instagram Reels & YouTube Shorts](/blog/post-one-video-to-instagram-reels-and-youtube-shorts). To find out why a post did not go out, read [why did my scheduled social media post fail](/blog/why-did-my-scheduled-social-post-fail). ## Why use DunSocial for a Shorts queue - **Format checked up front.** A video that is landscape or longer than 3 minutes is rejected for YouTube while you schedule, not at publish time. - **Title & description from one caption.** The first line becomes the title & the rest becomes the description. - **Failures you can see.** A failed publish shows on the calendar & can trigger a `post.publish_failed` webhook. - **One calendar for every network.** Shorts sit next to X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Reddit, Pinterest, Discord, & Slack, with TikTok & Facebook Pages in limited beta. YouTube does not publish a number. It limits uploads per channel in a 24-hour period, & the ceiling varies by country or region & channel history. Strikes reduce it. ### Does a scheduler get a higher YouTube limit? No. YouTube's help page says the limit applies across desktop, mobile, & the YouTube API, so a scheduled upload uses the same channel allowance as a manual one. ### What does "Daily upload limit reached" mean? Your channel has used its upload allowance for the current 24-hour period. YouTube says you can upload more videos in 24 hours, so reschedule the failed Short for the next day. ### Do scheduled Shorts count when I schedule them or when they publish? When they publish. DunSocial uploads the video to YouTube at the scheduled time, so that is when the upload counts. ### Can I review before go-live? Yes. Drafts wait for your confirmation before anything is scheduled or published, including drafts written by AI. ## Sources - [Common uploading errors, YouTube Help](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/10383400?hl=en) - [Videos: insert, YouTube Data API](https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/docs/videos/insert) --- ## About this document This is the Markdown representation of https://www.dunsocial.com/blog/how-many-youtube-shorts-can-you-schedule-per-day.
