# How to schedule messages on Discord (2026) > Discord has no built-in schedule send. Here's how to schedule Discord messages with DunSocial: connect a server, pick a channel & set a time. - Published: 2026-09-29 - Last updated: 2026-09-29 - Author: Sanju (Founder & CEO @ DunSocial) - Topics: how-to, discord --- Discord does not have a built-in schedule send for server messages. As of September 2026 there's no "send later" option in the message box, & no Discord Help Center article for it. The request threads on Discord's own feedback site are still open. To schedule a message, you add a bot that posts it for you at the time you pick. DunSocial is that bot, plus a full scheduler around it. You connect your server once, pick a text or announcement channel, write the message, & set a time. It goes out on schedule, next to your X, LinkedIn & other posts in the same queue. ## Does Discord have schedule send? Not natively. In January 2025, [TechIssuesToday reported](https://techissuestoday.com/discord-getting-schedule-messages-feature/) screenshots of a "Scheduled" inbox tab found through data mining, with no launch date from Discord. Discord's September 2026 roundup of user-requested features covered pinned DMs, audit log changes & full-size profile pictures, not scheduled messages. Two things people often mistake for scheduling: - **Scheduled Events.** These create an event card with a start time. They don't post a message into a channel for you. - **Drafts.** Discord keeps unsent text in the box, but you still have to be there to press Enter. So if you want an announcement to land at 9am while you're asleep, you need a bot with permission to post in that channel. ## How to schedule a Discord message with DunSocial 1. **Connect your server.** In DunSocial, open Connect, choose Discord & authorize the DunSocial bot on the server you want to post to. You need to be allowed to add apps to that server. 2. **Open the composer & select Discord.** You can select Discord on its own or alongside X, LinkedIn, Bluesky & your other connected accounts for a launch that goes out together. 3. **Pick the channel.** The composer lists the server's text & announcement channels. DunSocial requires a channel before a Discord message can be scheduled, so it never lands in the wrong place. 4. **Write the message.** Discord allows 2,000 characters per message, & the composer flags anything over the limit before you can schedule it. Text is optional if you attach media. 5. **Attach images or video if you need them.** Add up to 10 files (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, MP4 or WebM). The whole message has to stay under 25 MB, which DunSocial checks before the post enters the queue. 6. **Set the date & time.** Pick a slot in the schedule dialog. Times use the timezone saved in your DunSocial settings, so a 9am announcement means 9am where you are. 7. **Confirm.** The message sits on your calendar until it publishes. You can reschedule or cancel it from Posts at any point before then. When it publishes, DunSocial posts as the bot in the channel you chose & stores a link straight to the message. One setup note: DunSocial sends with mentions turned off, so an `@everyone` or role mention in the text shows up as text without pinging anyone. ## Schedule Discord messages from the CLI or an AI assistant If your announcements come out of a release pipeline, you don't need the web app at all. - **CLI (`dun` / `dunsocial`).** Run `dun discord channels` to list the server's text & announcement channels. Then schedule with `dun posts schedule --text "..." --accounts --at --meta '{"discord":{"channelId":"..."}}'`, or use `--in 2h` for a relative time. - **Hosted MCP.** In Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, your assistant calls `list_discord_channels` for a real channel id, then `schedule_discord_post` with an ISO 8601 time, or `publish_discord_now` to send right away. It uses the same Discord account & calendar as the web app. Either way, you review what the AI wrote before anything goes out. DunSocial never treats a draft as a published message. ## Scheduling to more than one server Each DunSocial workspace connects one Discord server. If you run several communities, or manage servers for clients, give each server its own workspace. That keeps every server's channels, drafts & calendar separate, with shared workspaces & roles for the team that posts there. No. Discord's message box has no send later or schedule send option for server channels in 2026. Scheduling a message needs a bot like DunSocial that posts to the channel at the time you set. ### Can I schedule a message in a Discord announcement channel? Yes. DunSocial lists both text & announcement channels from your connected server. Pick the announcement channel in the composer & schedule the message the same way you would for a text channel. ### Can I schedule Discord messages with images or video? Yes. Attach up to 10 images or videos (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, MP4 or WebM) to one message. The full message, text included, must stay under Discord's 25 MB request limit, & DunSocial checks that before scheduling. ### What is the character limit for a scheduled Discord message? 2,000 characters, the same as a normal Discord message. DunSocial's composer flags overflow & won't schedule a message that runs over. ### Can I edit a scheduled Discord message before it sends? Yes. Scheduled messages stay on your DunSocial calendar until they publish. Open the post to change the text, attachments, channel or time, or cancel it entirely. ## Sources - [Discord Help Center community request: Send Later / Scheduled messages on Discord](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/20698254627991-Send-Later-Scheduled-messages-on-Discord) - [Discord Help Center community request: Send a scheduled message](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360032382432-Send-a-scheduled-message-Suggestion) - [TechIssuesToday: Discord might finally let you schedule messages natively (January 2025)](https://techissuestoday.com/discord-getting-schedule-messages-feature/) - [Discord blog: Adding the Discord Updates YOU Want to See (September 2026)](https://discord.com/blog/adding-the-discord-updates-you-want-to-see) Retrieved 29 September 2026. --- ## About this document This is the Markdown representation of https://www.dunsocial.com/blog/how-to-schedule-messages-on-discord.
