# How to schedule Threads posts in 2026 > Threads has a built-in scheduler for posts, but not replies. Here is how it works, where it stops, & how to schedule Threads from one calendar. - Published: 2026-10-07 - Last updated: 2026-10-07 - Author: Sanju (Founder & CEO @ DunSocial) - Topics: scheduling, how-to --- You can schedule Threads posts two ways: with the scheduler built into the Threads app, or with a scheduling tool like DunSocial that publishes to Threads for you. Both work for original posts. Neither can schedule replies. ## Schedule a Threads post in the app Threads tested scheduled posts in December 2024, & Instagram head Adam Mosseri said the rule up front: ["Replies cannot be scheduled"](https://www.theverge.com/2024/12/17/24323727/threads-testing-scheduled-posts). The reason he gave is to balance planning with real-time conversation. To use it, write your post in the Threads composer, open its menu, & pick a date & time instead of posting. Scheduled posts then wait in your drafts until they go out. That is enough if Threads is the only place you post & you queue a few posts a week by hand. ## Where the in-app scheduler stops The app scheduler only knows about Threads. If you also post to X, LinkedIn, Instagram, or Bluesky, you repeat the same steps in each app, with a different character limit each time. Three limits come up most: - **No replies.** A reply under your own post has to go out live, after the post is published. - **One post at a time.** There is no calendar across accounts or platforms to see what is queued. - **No automation.** You can't queue posts from a terminal, a CI job, or an AI assistant. ## Schedule Threads posts with DunSocial DunSocial publishes to Threads from the same calendar as your other accounts. Connect your Threads account, write the post in the composer, pick a time, & schedule it. A human confirms every draft, including AI-written ones, before anything goes out. What a Threads post can hold in DunSocial: - **Text up to 500 characters.** Threads' own limit, so a draft written for X's 280 has room to grow. - **One image or video, or a carousel of up to 10 images.** Images & videos are not mixed in one post. - **A different version per platform.** Edit the Threads text separately from the X or Bluesky text. The [cross-posting guide](/blog/cross-post-to-x-threads-and-bluesky) covers how. Because the same calendar is shared by the web app, the CLI, MCP, & the API, you can also schedule Threads from a terminal or an AI host. See [the Threads scheduler roundup](/blog/best-social-media-scheduler-for-threads) for how that compares with other tools. ## Which should you use? Use the in-app scheduler when Threads is your only network & you plan a handful of posts by hand. Use a scheduler when Threads is one of several networks, when you want one calendar, or when you want to queue posts from the CLI, MCP, or API. ## Try it DunSocial is $20/mo or $192/yr, flat, with a 14-day trial & every feature unlocked. You can schedule an original post from the Threads composer & it waits in your drafts until it goes out. Threads announced the test in December 2024. ### Can I schedule replies on Threads? No. Adam Mosseri said replies cannot be scheduled, so the feature stays limited to original posts. Reply to your own post live once it is published. ### How long can a scheduled Threads post be? 500 characters, the same as any Threads post. In DunSocial you can edit the Threads text separately, so a post that was 280 characters for X can use the extra room. ### Can I schedule a Threads carousel? Yes, in DunSocial. Attach up to 10 images to one Threads post & it publishes as a carousel. Images & videos are not mixed in the same post. ### Can I schedule Threads with X & Bluesky together? Yes. Select your Threads, X, & Bluesky accounts in one composer, adjust the text for each, & schedule them from one calendar. ## Sources - [The Verge: Threads starts testing scheduled posts](https://www.theverge.com/2024/12/17/24323727/threads-testing-scheduled-posts) - [Adam Mosseri's announcement on Threads](https://www.threads.com/@mosseri/post/DDsaaXqT5Xv) --- ## About this document This is the Markdown representation of https://www.dunsocial.com/blog/how-to-schedule-threads-posts.
