# Reddit's API shutdown in 2027: what happens to scheduled Reddit posts? > Reddit ends RSS on Nov 13 & closes its public API in March 2027. Here are the dates, who is affected, & how to plan your scheduled Reddit posts. - Published: 2026-10-09 - Last updated: 2026-10-09 - Author: Sanju (Founder & CEO @ DunSocial) - Topics: reddit, scheduler --- Scheduling Reddit posts works today, but Reddit has set dates to wind down the public tools outside software relies on. RSS feeds end on November 13, 2026, & the remaining public API access closes in March 2027. If you schedule Reddit posts through a third-party tool, the dates below decide how far ahead you can safely plan. ## The dates Reddit announced Reddit announced these changes on September 30, 2026, & the press coverage lists the same timeline: - **October 31, 2026:** Reddit stops accepting new requests for public API access. - **November 13, 2026:** RSS feed support ends. - **January 12, 2027:** Reddit begins removing API access for apps that have not registered or engaged with its Developer Platform team. - **March 2027:** remaining public API access ends. Reddit says it is moving supported third-party apps & bots onto its own Developer Platform, & that some capabilities do not have a matching replacement yet. ## What this means for scheduling Reddit's own documented scheduler is a moderator tool: moderators with the right permissions can schedule posts in communities they moderate. For scheduling into other people's subreddits, you rely on third-party tools that post through Reddit's API on your behalf. Those tools sit inside the same timeline. None of this changes how a scheduled post behaves today, but it is a reason not to queue posts months ahead & assume they will go out. ## What to do now 1. **Keep the Reddit queue short.** Schedule days or weeks ahead, not a year ahead, until Reddit's migration path is clear. 2. **Keep drafts in one place.** Your titles, bodies, & flair choices should live in your scheduler's composer, not only in a Reddit tab. 3. **Ask your tool for its plan in writing.** Whether you use DunSocial or any other scheduler, ask what the tool will do before the January & March dates. 4. **Check the calendar after each batch.** A post that fails shows on the calendar, & you can reschedule it. See [why did my scheduled social media post fail](/blog/why-did-my-scheduled-social-post-fail). ## What does not change Reddit's rules for posting still decide whether a post survives, scheduled or not. Subreddit rules, flair requirements, & posting frequency matter more than the tool. The playbook in [Reddit marketing without getting banned](/blog/reddit-marketing-without-getting-banned) applies either way. ## Will DunSocial still post to Reddit after March 2027? Today, yes. DunSocial publishes to Reddit through your own authorized Reddit account, & scheduled posts go out as normal. We have applied to register DunSocial with Reddit's Developer Platform team & are awaiting approval. Reddit says apps & bots that have not registered lose API access from January 12, 2027, & that remaining public API access ends in March 2027. Press coverage of the announcement focuses on tools that read Reddit data, such as social listening, research, & AI assistants. We have not found Reddit guidance on how a registered app that posts on a user's behalf keeps working after March. So whether DunSocial keeps posting to Reddit after those dates depends on Reddit approving our registration, & on details Reddit has not published about apps that post on a user's behalf. This post will be updated when we hear back. Until then, keep your Reddit queue short & your drafts in the composer, so you can post natively if you ever need to. ## How DunSocial fits today DunSocial schedules Reddit posts with subreddit selection & flair built into the composer, alongside X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, YouTube Shorts, Discord, & Slack, with TikTok & Facebook Pages in limited beta. - **Subreddit & flair in the flow.** Pick the community & flair as part of scheduling, so a post is not removed for a missing flair. - **One calendar for every network.** Your Reddit posts sit next to the rest of your content, so a gap is visible. - **Failures you can see.** A failed publish shows on the calendar & can trigger a `post.publish_failed` webhook. - **A human confirms first.** Drafts wait for your approval before anything goes out. The full Reddit setup is in [best social media scheduler for Reddit in 2026](/blog/best-social-media-scheduler-for-reddit). ## Try it DunSocial is a flat **$20/mo** or **$192/yr**, with a 14-day trial & no card required. The November 13 date is for RSS feeds, not posting. Scheduling through third-party tools is tied to the API dates in January & March 2027, so keep your queue short & ask your tool for its plan. ### What happens to Reddit scheduling tools in March 2027? Reddit says remaining public API access ends in March 2027, & that apps are expected to move to its Developer Platform. Reddit also acknowledges some capabilities have no replacement yet, so each tool's path depends on what Reddit approves. ### Does Reddit have its own post scheduler? Yes, but Reddit's documented scheduler is a moderator tool for communities you moderate. It is not documented for posting into a subreddit you do not moderate. ### Can I still post to Reddit with DunSocial after March 2027? Today, yes. We have applied to register DunSocial with Reddit's Developer Platform team, which apps must do before January 12, 2027, & we are awaiting approval. Reddit has not published how registered apps that post for users continue after March, so keep your queue short until it does. ### Will scheduling a Reddit post get my account banned? Scheduling is not what triggers removals. Posting identical content to many subreddits at once, ignoring flair & rules, or posting & disappearing does. Space posts out & be around to reply. ### Can I review before go-live? Yes. Drafts wait for your confirmation before anything is published, including drafts written by AI. ## Sources - [Reddit is killing RSS feeds and ending public API access because of AI bots (TechCrunch)](https://techcrunch.com/2026/09/30/reddit-is-killing-rss-feeds-ending-public-api-access-because-of-ai-bots/) - [Reddit RSS and public API shutdown: key deadlines (TechRepublic)](https://www.techrepublic.com/article/news-reddit-rss-public-api-shutdown/) - [Scheduled and recurring posts (Reddit Help)](https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/15484443169556-Scheduled-and-Recurring-Posts) --- ## About this document This is the Markdown representation of https://www.dunsocial.com/blog/reddit-api-shutdown-2027-what-happens-to-scheduled-reddit-posts.
