Gemini can call hosted MCP tools too, & Google just made the remote-MCP path a first-class one, not only in **Gemini CLI**, but now in the **Managed Agents API** for developers building their own Gemini-powered agents.

The useful how-to is not "paste a caption into Gemini." It is add DunSocial's hosted MCP, finish OAuth, verify the workspace, draft in your voice, then schedule with **human confirm**. It's the same loop as the Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, & Grok how-tos in this series.

## What's new: Gemini's remote MCP support

Google [announced expanded Managed Agents support in the Gemini API](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/technology/developers-tools/expanding-managed-agents-gemini-api/) in July 2026, adding background execution, credential refresh, &, the part that matters here, **remote MCP server integration**: a managed agent can now call a hosted MCP server directly through an `mcp_server` tool type, passed alongside built-in tools like `google_search` & `code_execution` at interaction-creation time. That's exactly the kind of remote MCP server DunSocial's hosted endpoint is.

This sits alongside **Gemini CLI**, which has supported remote MCP servers (including OAuth-authenticated ones) for a while, & is the more direct path for most people reading this. See below.

## Prerequisites

Before Gemini can schedule anything useful:

1. A DunSocial account on the USD 20/mo or USD 192/yr plan (or an active 14-day trial).
2. Social networks connected in the DunSocial web app first. MCP cannot create network logins for you.
3. **Gemini CLI** installed, for the practical how-to below. (If you're wiring DunSocial into your own agent via the Managed Agents API instead, see the note at the end of this section.)

If MCP isn't available on the Gemini surface you're using, stop and use the [web app](https://app.dunsocial.com/login), the [CLI](/cli), or another supported client from [/agents](/agents) instead of inventing a different auth path.

## Add the DunSocial MCP server in Gemini CLI

DunSocial's hosted endpoint is the same URL every sibling client uses:

Gemini CLI supports OAuth 2.0 for remote MCP servers & can auto-discover the OAuth configuration when the server exposes it. DunSocial's hosted MCP does, via OAuth Protected Resource Metadata & dynamic client registration, so you don't need to hand-configure a client ID. On first use the CLI detects that DunSocial requires auth, opens a browser to sign in, & lets you pick a workspace & grant scopes; run `/mcp auth` inside the CLI at any point to manage that connection or re-authenticate. Do **not** paste a long-lived access token into a `headers` field for this setup. Prefer the OAuth flow.

**Building your own agent on the Managed Agents API instead?** Its `mcp_server` tool type takes a static `headers` map (e.g. `Authorization: Bearer ...`) rather than an interactive browser flow: a server-to-server shape, not the OAuth connector this page walks through. DunSocial's hosted MCP is OAuth-first & doesn't currently publish a bearer credential for that flow in the product UI, so for a custom Managed Agents integration, check [/mcp](/mcp) for the current state before building against it.

## Verify workspace before you write

After authorization, start with a read-only request:

If the workspace is wrong or expected accounts are missing, stop. Connect or switch those accounts in the DunSocial web app, then return to Gemini. MCP uses the accounts already linked to the workspace you approved in OAuth. It cannot create an X, LinkedIn, Instagram, or other network login for you.

## Draft in voice, then schedule with confirm

Give Gemini a source you trust: a release note, changelog, or approved campaign brief. Ask for a draft that uses your saved **AI Memory** & **Voice Presets**, then preview before anything is timed.

## Common mistakes (and the fix)
