# What can't an AI social media manager do yet? > An AI social media manager cannot reliably make judgment calls, decide overall strategy, or guarantee a fact is current. It drafts, adapts & schedules well. Deciding what is actually worth saying still sits with a person. Updated: 2026-09-17. ## Deciding what's worth posting about A model can write about a topic it's given. It has no real judgment about whether that topic is actually worth an audience's attention right now, whether the timing is tone-deaf, or whether a competitor just said the same thing yesterday. That call still sits with a person. ## Strategy above the daily calendar Content pillars, platform priority, overall positioning, these are decisions about direction, not wording. An AI social media manager executes within a strategy well. It doesn't set one, & tools that claim otherwise are usually describing content suggestions, not actual strategic judgment. ## Guaranteeing a fact is current Brand memory helps a model use real facts instead of inventing them, but memory can go stale. A price that changed last week, a feature that shipped yesterday, none of that updates automatically unless someone updates the saved memory. The model will write confidently from whatever it was given, current or not. DunSocial's AI Memory is no exception, an edited fact only helps the next draft written after the edit, not ones already queued. ## Reading a genuinely sensitive moment Whether a joke lands, whether now is the wrong week to post something upbeat because of unrelated news, whether a phrase reads differently than intended, these require the kind of contextual judgment a model doesn't reliably have. This is exactly the category a human review step exists to catch, & why DunSocial keeps that step in front of publish rather than trying to automate it away. ## Community management, at least fully Replying to comments & messages in a way that reads as genuinely responsive, not templated, still benefits heavily from a person who knows the specific relationship with that follower or customer. Drafting & scheduling posts is a different, more automatable job than that, & it's the job DunSocial is built around, not a claim to replace community management too. ## What this actually means in practice Treat an AI social media manager as very good at the mechanical half of the job, writing, adapting, remembering brand facts, scheduling reliably, & keep a person responsible for the half that requires judgment: what to say, whether it's the right moment, & whether it's still true. That division of labour is exactly how DunSocial is designed to be used, not a workaround for a gap in the product. ## Related guides - [Do you still need to review AI-written social media posts?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/ai-social-media-manager/do-you-still-need-to-review-ai-written-social-media-posts.md) - [How accurate is AI-written social media content?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/ai-social-media-manager/how-accurate-is-ai-written-social-media-content.md) - [What is an AI social media manager?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/ai-social-media-manager/what-is-an-ai-social-media-manager.md) - [Social media management vs social media marketing](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/social-media-management/social-media-management-vs-marketing.md) ## About this document This is the Markdown representation of https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/ai-social-media-manager/what-cant-an-ai-social-media-manager-do-yet.
