# How to schedule a post with the DunSocial CLI > Use dun posts schedule with --text, --accounts & either --in (like 2h) or --at (an ISO time), never both. dun posts publish queues a post immediately, & --wait blocks until it finishes so a script can read the real result. Updated: 2026-10-05. ## The basic command ```bash dun posts schedule \ --text "Hello from DunSocial" \ --accounts ACCOUNT_ID \ --in 1h ``` You need a signed-in CLI, a selected workspace & an account id from `dun accounts list`. ## Choose when: --in or --at Pass one of these, not both: ```bash # relative dun posts schedule --text "Hello" --accounts ACCOUNT_ID --in 2h # absolute (ISO time) dun posts schedule --text "Hello" --accounts ACCOUNT_ID --at 2026-08-01T15:00:00Z ``` `--in` takes values like `30m`, `2h`, `1d` & `1w`, plus longer forms such as `minutes` & `hours`. Use `--at` with an explicit UTC time when the exact moment matters. ## Post to several accounts ```bash dun posts schedule --text "Launch day" --accounts ACC1,ACC2 --in 30m ``` DunSocial creates one post per account & validates them together. If any account fails validation, none are created, so you never get a half-scheduled batch. ## Publish immediately ```bash dun posts publish \ --text "Hello from DunSocial" \ --accounts ACCOUNT_ID ``` `publish` queues the post with a `scheduled` status & returns. It doesn't mean the post is already live on the platform. ## Wait for the real result ```bash dun posts publish \ --text "Hello from DunSocial" \ --accounts ACCOUNT_ID \ --wait ``` With `--wait`, the CLI blocks until the post reaches a final state, which makes it suitable for scripts that must know whether it worked. Add `--json` to read the outcome programmatically. ## Where the post shows up A post created from the CLI appears on the same calendar as one made in the web app, with a CLI source badge. Anyone with access can open it, edit it or cancel it before it publishes. That's the safety net for automation: a script schedules, & a person can still review in DunSocial before the time arrives. ## Related guides - [How to find the right social account id in the DunSocial CLI](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-cli-guides/how-to-find-the-right-social-account-id-in-the-dunsocial-cli.md) - [How to validate a post before publishing with the DunSocial CLI](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-cli-guides/how-to-validate-a-post-before-publishing-with-the-dunsocial-cli.md) - [How to reschedule or cancel a post from the DunSocial CLI](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-cli-guides/how-to-reschedule-or-cancel-a-post-from-the-dunsocial-cli.md) - [How far in advance can you schedule social media posts?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/social-media-scheduler/how-far-in-advance-can-you-schedule-social-media-posts.md) ## About this document This is the Markdown representation of https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-cli-guides/how-to-schedule-a-post-with-the-dunsocial-cli.
