# How to connect ChatGPT to DunSocial over MCP > Add a custom connector or MCP server in ChatGPT, paste the DunSocial MCP URL & nothing else, then approve a workspace in the browser. Labels in ChatGPT change over time, so look for custom connector or MCP server settings rather than a fixed menu path. Updated: 2026-10-05. ## The short version In ChatGPT, add a custom connector or MCP server & paste this URL, with no headers or tokens: ``` https://api.dunsocial.com/api/mcp ``` ChatGPT then sends you to DunSocial to sign in, pick a workspace & approve access. ## Why the menu path isn't spelled out ChatGPT's connector screens have moved & been renamed more than once, & they can differ by plan & by workspace settings. A fixed click path would go stale quickly. Look for the place where you add a custom connector or an MCP server, & paste the URL. The DunSocial side of the flow doesn't change. ## What happens after you paste the URL ChatGPT discovers DunSocial's OAuth details from the MCP endpoint & registers itself automatically, so there's no client ID or secret to enter. You then see DunSocial's approval page. On that page you choose the workspace & approve the scopes. After you approve, ChatGPT can call the workspace tools. ## What to ask first Begin with a request that only reads data: > List my connected social accounts. Then try a dry run: > Validate a LinkedIn post that says "Hello" for that account, but don't publish it. That uses the `validate_post` tool, which checks the post without writing anything. DunSocial answers with real account names & ids, which is how you know the workspace is connected. ## Common snags with remote hosts Remote chat hosts exchange tokens across origins, & DunSocial's web app is configured to allow that for the OAuth token, revoke & introspect endpoints only. If a connection fails right after you approve in the browser, it's worth reporting, because it points to a server-side problem rather than something you did wrong. If the consent screen only ever shows "view workspace content," disconnect & reconnect so the full set of scopes is requested. Publishing needs more than read access. ## Keep expectations realistic ChatGPT can only do what the approved scopes allow, & only in the workspace you picked. DunSocial's own rules still apply on top: platform character limits, required metadata & the plan limits of the workspace. The assistant drafts & schedules; you still decide what goes live. A draft isn't a publish, so say "schedule" or "publish" when you mean it. ## Related guides - [How to connect Claude to DunSocial over MCP](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/how-to-connect-claude-to-dunsocial-mcp.md) - [Can ChatGPT or Claude post directly to social media?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/social-media-automation-for-developers/can-chatgpt-or-claude-post-directly-to-social-media.md) - [What permissions does a DunSocial MCP connection need?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/what-permissions-does-a-dunsocial-mcp-connection-need.md) - [Why can't my AI assistant publish through DunSocial MCP?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/why-cant-my-ai-assistant-publish-through-dunsocial-mcp.md) ## About this document This is the Markdown representation of https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/how-to-connect-chatgpt-to-dunsocial-mcp.
