# How to connect Claude to DunSocial over MCP > Paste https://api.dunsocial.com/api/mcp into Claude Desktop as a custom connector, or run one claude mcp add command in Claude Code. Claude opens DunSocial so you can pick a workspace & approve access. There is no token to copy. Updated: 2026-10-05. ## What you're connecting DunSocial runs a hosted MCP server. Claude talks to it over HTTPS, & DunSocial decides what Claude may do through OAuth. You never paste a long-lived secret into Claude. The endpoint is the same for every client: ``` https://api.dunsocial.com/api/mcp ``` You can also copy it from Settings → MCP inside DunSocial. ## Option 1: Claude Desktop In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Name it `DunSocial` & paste the URL above. Claude opens DunSocial in your browser. Sign in if asked, choose a workspace & approve the access Claude is asking for. ## Option 2: Claude Code Claude Code connects from the terminal with a single command: ```bash claude mcp add --transport http --scope user dunsocial https://api.dunsocial.com/api/mcp ``` Then run `/mcp` inside Claude Code to authorize & inspect the connection. The `--scope user` flag makes the connector available in every project, not only the current folder. ## What the approval screen does The approval step is where you pick the workspace & the scopes. The connection is then bound to that workspace for its whole life, so Claude can't quietly act on a different one. Access tokens are short-lived & refreshed by the client, which is why nothing needs pasting or rotating by hand. DunSocial's consent page is the only place this happens, so a request that never reaches it hasn't been approved. ## Test it with a read-only request Start with something that can't change anything: > List my connected social accounts & the posts scheduled this week. If Claude answers with real account names & ids, the connection works. DunSocial's MCP tools use account ids rather than @handles, so it's worth noticing the ids it returns. ## If the Claude connector UI fails Occasionally a chat host can't register with the sign-in service & shows an error while adding the connector. The Claude Code command above uses the same OAuth URL without the connector screen, so it's a reliable fallback. DunSocial treats this as a platform-side problem to fix, not something you should work around with a manually created token. Tokens in URLs aren't supported for new setups. ## Reconnecting later Reconnect if you want a different workspace, or if publishing fails with a permission error. Disconnect the connector, add it again & approve the full set of scopes. You can see & revoke connections in DunSocial under Settings → MCP at any time. ## Related guides - [What permissions does a DunSocial MCP connection need?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/what-permissions-does-a-dunsocial-mcp-connection-need.md) - [Why can't my AI assistant publish through DunSocial MCP?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/why-cant-my-ai-assistant-publish-through-dunsocial-mcp.md) - [What is MCP & why does it matter for social media?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/social-media-automation-for-developers/what-is-mcp-and-why-does-it-matter-for-social-media.md) - [How to connect Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf to DunSocial MCP](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/how-to-connect-cursor-vs-code-or-windsurf-to-dunsocial-mcp.md) ## About this document This is the Markdown representation of https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/how-to-connect-claude-to-dunsocial-mcp.
