# How to schedule an X thread with an AI assistant > Use schedule_thread or publish_thread_now with one X account id & between 2 and 25 tweets. Check get_x_cap_usage before a large batch, since X has a monthly posting cap. These tools are for X threads, not Meta Threads. Updated: 2026-10-05. ## Two tools, one job DunSocial's MCP has `schedule_thread` for a thread at a future time & `publish_thread_now` for one right away. Both post an X (Twitter) thread. They are not for Meta's Threads app. That's a different platform with its own account type. ## The rules - Exactly one X account, passed as a single social account id - Between 2 & 25 tweets - Each tweet has content & can have its own media - Scheduling also needs a time Get the account id from `list_social_accounts`. A handle isn't an id. ## An example request A plain-language ask is enough, as long as it names the account & the time: > Schedule a 4-tweet X thread for this afternoon on my main X account, explaining how our scheduling queue works. The assistant drafts the tweets, picks the right account id & calls `schedule_thread` with an ISO timestamp. ## Check the cap first X has a monthly posting cap in DunSocial. Reaching it makes further scheduling or publishing to X return a rate-limit style error. Ask the assistant to call `get_x_cap_usage` before a large batch so a long thread doesn't fail partway through the plan. ## Character limits Each tweet is checked against the X limit, which is 280 characters, or 25,000 when the connected account has X Premium. Long threads are where the limit is easiest to hit by accident. Run `validate_post` on the content before scheduling. The tool is a dry run, so it costs nothing & shows exactly which tweet is too long. DunSocial applies the Premium limit only when the connected X account actually has Premium, so don't assume it for every account. ## Review before it goes out A scheduled thread appears on the DunSocial calendar like any other post, so you can read it, reorder a tweet or cancel it before the time arrives. For anything public under your name, schedule instead of publishing now. It gives you a window to read what the assistant wrote. ## Related guides - [How to write a social media thread](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/social-media-content-creation/how-to-write-a-social-media-thread.md) - [X marketing strategy guide](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/social-media-platform-guides/x-marketing-strategy-guide.md) - [How should an AI assistant validate a post before publishing?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/how-should-an-ai-assistant-validate-a-post-before-publishing.md) - [Why can't my AI assistant publish through DunSocial MCP?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/why-cant-my-ai-assistant-publish-through-dunsocial-mcp.md) ## About this document This is the Markdown representation of https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/how-to-schedule-an-x-thread-with-an-ai-assistant.
