# What can an AI assistant do with DunSocial MCP tools? > DunSocial exposes 53 MCP tools in five groups: posts, drafts, media, memory & workspaces. A good assistant lists accounts first, uploads media, validates the post, then schedules or publishes. Drafts never publish on their own. Updated: 2026-10-05. ## Five groups of tools Once connected, an assistant can use 53 tools against the workspace you approved. You ask in plain language & the client picks the right tool. | Group | What it covers | |-------|----------------| | Posts | List, schedule, publish, threads, reschedule, cancel, delete, X cap usage | | Drafts | List, create, update, delete | | Media | List, upload URL, complete upload, delete | | Memory | Collections, save, search, update, delete | | Workspaces | Workspaces, members, social accounts, Pinterest boards, Discord & Slack channels | ## Platform-specific tools Some platforms need their own options, so DunSocial has dedicated schedule & publish tools for Reddit, Instagram, Pinterest, Discord, Slack & TikTok. X threads have their own pair of tools too. The generic `schedule_post` & `publish_now` tools work for the rest, & can carry platform options in a `metadata` block when needed. Facebook Pages need no metadata at all. ## The order that works An assistant that follows this order makes far fewer mistakes: 1. List workspaces if needed & confirm the connected one 2. List social accounts & copy the account id 3. Upload media if the post needs it 4. Call `validate_post`, & fix anything in `issues[].next` before continuing 5. Schedule, publish, or save a draft if it isn't ready It helps to tell the assistant this order directly the first time. ## What it can't do An assistant can't act outside the approved workspace, & it can't use a scope you didn't grant. It also can't invent account ids: an @handle isn't an id, so it has to list accounts first. `create_draft` saves an idea & nothing more. Going live needs an explicit schedule or publish call. DunSocial enforces both limits on the server, so an assistant can't talk its way past a missing scope. ## How DunSocial keeps this safe Every post created through MCP lands on the same calendar as one created in the web app. A person can open the calendar, see it & edit or cancel it before it publishes. Scheduled posts also carry their source, so a team can see which posts came from an assistant & which from a person. ## Good first requests - "List my connected accounts & the posts scheduled this week." - "Save this note to my brand memory collection." - "Upload this image, then publish a Pinterest Pin to my Landing page board." - "List Discord channels, then publish this update to #announcements." Start with the read-only ones, then move to scheduling once the output looks right. DunSocial's answers to these show the real state of your workspace, which is the best test of a new connection. ## Related guides - [How should an AI assistant validate a post before publishing?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/how-should-an-ai-assistant-validate-a-post-before-publishing.md) - [What permissions does a DunSocial MCP connection need?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/what-permissions-does-a-dunsocial-mcp-connection-need.md) - [How to give an AI assistant your brand memory through MCP](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/how-to-give-an-ai-assistant-your-brand-memory-through-mcp.md) - [What can't an AI social media manager do yet?](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/ai-social-media-manager/what-cant-an-ai-social-media-manager-do-yet.md) ## About this document This is the Markdown representation of https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/dunsocial-mcp-guides/what-can-an-ai-assistant-do-with-dunsocial-mcp-tools.
