# How to set up a social media team in a shared workspace > A shared workspace needs one calendar everyone works from, clear roles for who can do what, & connected accounts set up once rather than per person. Skipping any of these usually means duplicate work or accounts nobody can find later. Updated: 2026-09-25. ## Why a shared workspace, not separate logins The most common early mistake is each team member connecting the same social accounts under their own separate login, which produces duplicate drafts, no shared calendar view, & no way to see what a colleague already scheduled. A shared workspace fixes this at the root: one place every connected account & every draft actually lives, regardless of who's working on it that day. ## What to set up first - Connect the accounts once, under the shared workspace, not under any one person's individual login - Decide roles before inviting people, so an invite comes with the right access already in mind - Agree on a review step before the first real post goes out, not after something publishes by accident - Pick a naming or tagging convention for drafts if the team is large enough that "whose is this" becomes a real question Doing this setup work before the team starts actively posting avoids untangling duplicate accounts & unclear ownership later, which is a much harder fix once real content history is attached to the wrong setup. ## Avoiding duplicate work Two people drafting the same idea independently, because neither could see what the other was working on, is the clearest sign a workspace isn't actually shared yet. A single calendar view, visible to everyone with access, is what prevents this: an idea already in progress is visible before someone else starts the same one from scratch. DunSocial's calendar is that single view by default, not an optional feature someone has to remember to check. ## Where DunSocial fits this setup directly A DunSocial workspace is built around exactly this shared model: every connected account, draft & scheduled post lives in one workspace visible to everyone invited to it, with owner, admin & member roles deciding what each person can actually do. Connecting an account once, under the workspace rather than a personal login, means the whole team works from the same calendar from day one. ## Growing the setup as the team grows A setup that works for two people, one shared calendar, informal review, often needs more structure once a team reaches five or six: clearer role assignments, a more explicit approval step, maybe a dedicated reviewer rather than "whoever's around." Revisiting the initial setup periodically, rather than assuming it still fits as the team changes, keeps the workspace from becoming a bottleneck as more people rely on it. DunSocial's workspace roles scale with a team without a structural change: adding a fourth or fifth member is an invite & a role assignment, not a new setup process. ## Related guides - [Social media roles & permissions explained](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/social-media-for-teams-and-agencies/social-media-roles-and-permissions-explained.md) - [How to onboard a new team member to social media management](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/social-media-for-teams-and-agencies/how-to-onboard-a-new-team-member-to-social-media-management.md) - [How to manage multiple social media accounts](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/social-media-management/how-to-manage-multiple-social-media-accounts.md) - [Social media approval workflow](https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/social-media-management/social-media-approval-workflow.md) ## About this document This is the Markdown representation of https://www.dunsocial.com/hub/social-media-for-teams-and-agencies/how-to-set-up-a-social-media-team-in-a-shared-workspace.
